Lady Eaton College, or LEC, as many call it, is located on the West Bank of the Otonabee River and was established in 1968, making it the second-oldest college on the Symons Campus. The college houses 238 on-residence students and is also the college of affiliation for numerous off-residence students in their first and upper years at Trent.
The residence at Lady Eaton College is divided into two wings, which are in-turn divided into three sections each. North Wing is divided between Yellow, Orange and Red Sections. Yellow Section has the benefit of several rooms which are completely accessible. South Wing is divided between Blue, Purple and Green sections. Lady Eaton was originally established as an all-female college at Trent, and Blue section remains entirely female to this day. This provides a comfortable and culturally inclusive environment for all LEC students. The College residence is largely made up of single rooms, with 214, however there are 12 double rooms as well, to suit all student preferences. LEC has the benefit of being located in front of the drumlin, which means that students can frequently enjoy the outdoors in their spare time and witness the natural beauty of Trent's campus.
The college system allows students to make connections and provides a sense of belonging, to help students succeed in the larger Trent community. All students, regardless of whether they live on or off-residence, are affiliated with a college, which provides a home base as they branch out into university life. Lady Eaton College provides multiple resources for students, including the College Principal and Senior Tutor, who serve your needs as a student and can provide guidance in multiple areas. Lady Eaton College also provides multiple opportunities for student involvement, including the College Cabinet, where devoted students with a variety of concerns and skills collaborate to improve college life for all students.
LEC students coming to Trent in 2013 have the good fortune of joining their college for its 45th anniversary!
